But when their zany scheme snowballs from poisoning a machine learning model with erotic fan fiction into global espionage, the would-be vigilante panics as his coding spins out of control.

Reviews:

An urgent mirror to today’s technological crossroads— that doesn’t pull any punches.

Ana Sun, author of The Perpetual Metamorphosis of Primrose Close

A fast-paced narrative that pulls back the curtain on AI’s potential and the messy humanity behind it. The perfect mix of humor, heart, and high-tech drama, offering a window into the future that feels eerily plausible.

David Geisert, AI Prototyper at Meta

Few authors capture the inner workings, ambitions, and cognitive dissonance of the technology sector as well as Anat Deracine. In Algorithms of Betrayal, Ryan Archaki’s thirst for revenge against his former colleagues is portrayed against the backdrop of his own up bringing and family relations. Beautifully crafted and engaging,we can’t help but wonder if Ryan and the world of tech he inhabits has any chance of being redeemed.

Cindy Rizzo, Award-winning author of five novels, including The Split Trilogy

This book seduced me. I am not a tech person and I don’t read many thrillers, but Deracine’s charactersare so juicy and palpable, so fully, delightfully, and humorously human, that I was eased completely into their world — which of course, increasingly, is mine, in the era of Gen AI, whether I like it or not. This book could hardly be a more timely or necessary read, and yet it’s an outright romp. Deracine’s powerful, nuanced understanding of the times we live in, the interlocking ways of the heart and mind, and the possibilities yet open to us — despite and maybe because of our very worst traits as individuals and a society — brings me not only pleasure and new insight, but hope.
